With another week of cyclones and flooding keeping anglers at home, those who got out early when the weather windows cleared up managed to find some good fish this week, seeing some good barra, finger mark and jacks along with some good reef fish and marlin out wide.
Reef fishing
Dodging storms and shooting out for a quick bottom bash as the sun rejoined us in the north, few anglers made the dash and were rewarded with some nice fish like coral trout caught working the reef edges and large mouth nannygai schooling near inshore wonky holes.

Game fishing
Heading out wide braving conditions is just another day for game boat skippers chasing marlin and some would say a little bit of rough weather gets them biting and it often is how it goes with some nice ones being caught just after the storms pass.

Estuaries, Rivers and Beaches
With a rough start to the week things only improved with good reports of barramundi moving in the small flood drains and side creeks proving the system has seen a good spawn year for barramundi. Anglers fishing mangroves and overhangs having plenty of action from mangrove jacks. While fishing the mudflats has seen some solid catches of finger mark on fresh baits.

Freshwater, Creeks and Dams
Right before and right after storms and low pressure systems often get the barra to bite particularly big fish in dams. The changes in pressure indicate storm surges or floods and big tides giving them the urge to migrate or feed opportunistically. Often lures can be very effective during these times as you can cover more area or repeatedly wind it past them until they reaction bite. In Tinaroo they roam almost all night time hours so having livies out while camping is always effective, seeing some good fish this week for locals fishing Tinaroo.
